Our hunting properties are a variety of creek bottoms, ridges, hardwood forest, CRP fields, natural funnels, corn and soybean fields and annual food plots. We plant a number of acres of Imperial Whitetail Clover, Chicory, Buck Forage Oats, and various other types of fall winter attractants.
Western Illinois Whitetail Deer Hunts
The October pre-rut hunt can be one of the most enjoyable and can be just as productive as hunting the rut. Most of our food plots are planted and geared for early season Illinois bow hunts. We plant a number of acres of Clover, Chicory, Buck Forage Oats, Brassicas and various other types of whitetail deer attractants. We generally hunt staging areas and food plots in the evenings. In the mornings, we tend to hunt more bedding areas and travel corridors to and from food sources allowing for a variety of different stand locations for you to hunt in the early season.
The Illinois rut is the most exciting time of the year to hunt trophy whitetail. Cooler temperatures and unpredictable patterns make for an action-packed Illinois hunt. Bucks are chasing and seeking does and daytime activity skyrockets at any time the buck of a lifetime could cruise beneath your stand.
Post-rut hunting in Western Illinois is often underrated. Mature whitetail bucks turn to survival mode and are often patterned using winter food plots. At Riverview Outfitters, we plant several high-protein food plots specifically for our late season whitetail deer hunts.
The BSA Lodge is a hunter's home away from home. You'll swap stories and share meals in this rustic lodge, complete with kitchen, den with fireplace, bathrooms and bedrooms for six. Another cabin within walking distance sleeps the remainder of the hunters in camp.
